It ain’t over ‘til it’s over: re-examining the landscape for challenges to arbitration awards
Monday 11 October 2021 | 11:10 – 12:00 BST
This panel will examine recent English law developments concerning challenges to arbitration awards, providing practical and up-to-date guidance for claimants and respondents in challenge proceedings. Issues will include when a procedural decision can be challenged, and how the courts are likely to balance the need for arbitral confidentiality against the need for transparency in court proceedings. The panel will consider scope for reform of the Arbitration Act 1996: has English law got the balance right between the finality of awards and rights of recourse against arbitral decisions? The panel will also consider guidance that might be found in other jurisdictions, with a particular focus on French jurisprudence.
The summit will take place in-person at the Queen Queen Elizabeth II Centre, London. Virtual access will be available to those based outside of the UK.
