Philippa Charles has been elected as an ICC Court Member for the 2024-2027 mandate as a representative of Ireland in the ICC’s International Court of Arbitration.
The Court, in name only, administers arbitrations by exercising judicial supervision of arbitration proceedings. Responsibilities of the Court representatives include confirming, appointing, and replacing arbitrators; deciding on challenges against them; monitoring the process for proper and efficient performance; and scrutinising and approving awards for quality and enforceability.
On her appointment, Philippa comments:
“The functions of the ICC Court support ICC’s mission to ensure that users of its arbitration services receive an outstanding service from beginning to end. It is an enormous honour to serve as a member of the Court in the 2024-2027 term, as a representative of Ireland, and I look forward to working closely with my fellow Court members and the Secretariat to undertake the tasks allocated to the Court by the Rules of Arbitration”.
