Professor Stefan Talmon has been invited by the Curatorium of The Hague Academy of International Law to deliver one of the prestigious special courses during the 2022 winter session. Professor Talmon will deliver a series of five lectures on “The forfeiture of rights in international law”. This will be the first time that the concept of forfeiture of rights receives a detailed treatment in international law. The lectures will cover the three different aspects of forfeiture: asset forfeiture, the forfeiture of substantive rights and technical forfeiture.
The Hague Academy of International Law, which was inaugurated in 1923, is a centre for high-level education in both public and private international law. The Academy offers summer and winter courses in international law which are attended each year by several hundred students from around the globe. The lectures are delivered in the magnificent Auditorium next to the Peace Palace in The Hague which houses the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. The United Nations General Assembly regularly notes with appreciation the contributions of the Hague Academy to the teaching, study, dissemination of international law.
Registration for the course closes on 29 September 2021 (31 July for scholarship applicants).
