Sarah Grimmer will be joining Chambers as an arbitrator member, based in our Singapore office, in August 2022. A further announcement will follow at that time.
Sarah has an impressive 20 years of experience in international arbitration spanning commercial, investment treaty, and public international law disputes.
For the past six years, Sarah served as Secretary-General of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC). Prior to that, she spent a decade at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague assisting some of the world’s most eminent tribunals in complex inter-State, investor-State, and contractual disputes. She also worked for three years at the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris. As such, her experience spans the Asia Pacific with particular knowledge of China-related disputes, as well as Europe/the United Kingdom, Russia, and North America.
Duncan Matthews QC, Head of Twenty Essex, says: “We are thrilled that Sarah has chosen to join Twenty Essex for the next stage of her career. Given her background, particularly with the HKIAC, she will be perfectly placed to enrich the expertise within our Singapore hub. However, she is well-known, admired and liked in equal measure across the global arbitration community and I have no doubt she will be a great success not only in Asia but across the international spectrum.”
Sarah says: “I have worked with many of the members of Twenty Essex during my career and have first-hand knowledge of the level of expertise that they bring to international arbitration and other fields. It is therefore a great honour and joy for me to join Chambers as my new professional home.”
Twenty Essex continues to strengthen and expand across all its areas of practice.
